(Oak Ridge TN.) December 20, 2018: The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) awarded Protection Strategies Incorporated (PSI) a contract to provide unaffiliated third-party reviews of critical infrastructure. The unaffiliated third-party review is a security risk-assessment verification required under the recent implementation of North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards.
“As a trusted technical advisor and independent assessor, PSI is committed to providing evaluations, recommendations, and validations to promote the security of the Tennessee Valley Authority critical infrastructure,” said Sean P. Williams, PSI CEO & President. “We have been a long-standing partner of the TVA and look forward to working with them again on this project.”
Pursuant to the recently executed Physical Security Reliability Standard (CIP-014) PSI will assist TVA Police to ensure its planning parties meet requirement R2 of FERC’s CIP-014-1 standard, which obligates transmission owners to have an unaffiliated third party verify their risk assessments of their transmission stations and substations that are subject to the standard.
