OAK RIDGE TENNESSEE (DECEMBER 2015) – Akima Support Operations LLC, (ASO) awarded Protection Strategies Incorporated a subcontract to perform Security Forces Services at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC). PSI was part of a multi-company team that was awarded the Facility Support Services contract at Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma Tennessee. The prime contract was awarded to ASO as a hybrid firm-fixed price and cost-reimbursement contract, valued at $87.5 million. The period of performance is four years – one base year and three one-year option periods. PSI successfully transitioned over the AEDC Security Forces on December 1, 2015 after a 90 day transition.
AEDC is the most advanced and largest complex of flight simulation test facilities in the world. The complex operates 32 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units. Many of the complex’s test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.
